The weird English prog-rock band YES got inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame. Did they deserve it?
ROBERT’S RECORD CORNER weighs this important question, from a beach in Oregon (so you don’t have to). It’s an unusual journey to consider a band famed for 20-minute songs about yogis, overlapping line-ups of 19 members in 49 years, many bickerings and fights and firings, and reinventions. When they brought back their main songwriter – singer Jon Anderson – they forbid him to write any songs. He did anyway. And it became their biggest hit, 90125.
