In 2011, a budget airline started using the Iron Maiden jet to fly from Newark to Reykjavik. On some flights, lead singer Bruce Dickinson flew it. I wanted to go. So did, and talked with him about travel trips. At the time I was Lonely Planet’s US spokesperson, and they were less keen about the whole thing, initially. The video got us on Fox News, has gained over 600,000 views and the head of LP’s US office even led his annual report that year with a little wisdom from Iron Maiden.
I learned that Bruce is a very nice guy and to always strive to fly like an eagle.
