We really could use your help on this. In Lou Reed’s 1983 song "Bottoming Out," he retells a scene where– in a drunken rage, but with good vision – he took off on a motorcycle and wrecked. Afterwards he revisits the scene, drunk again, and sees "A DEAD SQUIRREL THAT I HIT." There's the conundrum. Did he kill it or not?
PLEASE VOTE on your interpretation of Lou's enigmatic lyric:
A) Lou hit and killed that squirrel,
B) Lou did not kill the squirrel (it was already dead when he ran it over),
C) Lou hit and killed multiple squirrels
All of this is one of the reasons I like Lou Reed so much. His lyrics are FULL of such "easter eggs" to think about. Thank you for your participation!!
